PATOS 'Luz Y Luz' Rosé Vino de España 2022

‘Luz y Luz’ is a joint effort of Castell d’Age—a family estate in Catalonia, Spain, owned and operated by three generations of women—and Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche, who established collaborative label PATOS while hunkered down at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic (PATOS is Norwegian for “pathos,” a reflection of general attitudes at the time). Leading the partnership on the winery side is Olivia Junyent, Castell d’Age's winemaker, who’s known widely for her staunch commitment to the organic and biodynamic viticultural practices pioneered by her family more than two decades ago. She’s also known for her mindful, low-intervention methods in the cellar, employed deftly here. Made from direct press garnacha, fermented naturally and aged in tank, the cuvée is juicy, wild and wildly delicious, offering wild raspberry, sour cherry and ripe strawberry flavors complemented by a flash of herbs and citrus. Organically grown, certified biodynamic, low-intervention/natural wine.
