Pied à Terre is a project of New York wine personality-turned-winemaker Richard Luftig. Drawing on decades of experience buying and teaching about wine, Richard sources grapes from just a few carefully chosen vineyards in Sonoma County for his line of cabernets. This wine aged exclusively in French barrels, a small percentage of which were new. The 2017 growing season began with record rainfall and wound up with multiple heatwaves, resulting in a small harvest of concentrated flavor. Bold blackberry, plum, and currant mingle with notes of licorice and graphite. Robust yet refined, this provides luscious ripe fruit deftly balanced with fresh acidity and firm tannins. A richly textured finish lingers on the palate, ready to accompany hearty fare. Sustainably grown.
