The Pierre Péters estate has been a family-owned champagne house for six generations, producing Grand Cru blanc de blancs since 1919. Located in the heart of the “Côte des Blancs” in the village of Le Mesnil sur Oger, the family now boasts 20 hectares of chardonnay vines averaging 30 years old, many of which are designated Grand Cru, and has garnered a well deserved reputation as a leading light of grower champagne. ‘Cuvée de Réserve’ is the flagship bottling of the estate, made up entirely of chardonnay from grand cru villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize & Cramant. Approximately 45% is current vintage, with 55% perpetual reserve going back to 1988, with 6-7 gm/L dosage. This strikes a brilliant balance between bright, crisp fruit and richer, textured notes of yeasty brioche. Defined minerality adds elegant edges and creates a compelling tension against soft apple notes over a creamy palate. That killer interplay between tension and texture, complexity and structure is classic Pierre Péters! Sustainably grown.
