Talk about a historic estate. Pozzesi e Figlie has been a wine-producing property since the sixteenth century, never changing hands from the Pozzesi family. Vittorio Pozzesi was at the helm of the estate since the inaugural bottling of their own wine in 1967, but the reigns have since been passed to his son, Enrico. Their former winemaker was the legendary Guilio Gambelli (sadly, he passed away in 2012), whose artful touch was felt at the regaled Montevertine and Gianfranco Soldera estates. Perhaps one of the better kept secrets of Tuscany, ‘Rodano’ offers incredible value from a property with more than a hundred hectares under vine. Priced to play Chianti Classico? Yes, please and thank you. Stylistically quite traditional, this bottle highlights sangiovese’s signature bright acidity, offering freshness and vibrancy on the palate paired with soft grained tannins that just scream for food’s company.
