Domaine Régis Jouan is a small estate of four hectares that offers exactly the kind of meticulous winemaking we expect from Sancerre. Located in Sury en Vaux, on the left side of the Loire River, it boasts classic limestone and clay soils of the region. 25-year-old vines are planted on a slope with southwestern exposure. Régis is the fifth-generation winemaker, and is now working with his daughter and son-in-law, keeping it a true family tradition. This sophisticated sauvignon blanc offers subtle layers of quintessential grapefruit, lemon, and passionfruit notes along with a bit of peach on the midpalate, all underscored by delightful hints of white flowers and crushed green herbs. Zesty acidity and the firm mineral finish that is the hallmark of Sancerre make it an elegant partner at the dinner table.
