It’s not grammatically acceptable to say that something is “truly unique,” and it is true that many of the wines we have are unique in their way, but there really isn’t anything else out there like this solera-aged chardonnay. Mikey and Gina Giugni produce the Scar of the Sea and the Lady of the Sunshine labels out of their San Luis Obispo winery. For this cuvée, Mikey drew on a solera (a year-to-year continuous aging process usually associated with sherry) dating back to 2014, mixed in equal measure with old-vine chardonnay from the Rancho Vinedo vineyard. The result is rich and bright, salty and fruity, complex and delicious. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
