MORE ON THIS WINE
Honoring our elders can take on many forms. Creating an altar, perfecting a sacred recipe, or, for winemaker Bernhard Bredell, tending to grapevines just as his grandfather showed him how. Imagine a four-year-old tagging along into the vineyard and being regaled with stories of integrity, craftsmanship, and care, developing a deep commitment to the sustainability of the planet in the process. Well, that’s the legacy of Scions of Sinai, a seven-generation, dryfarmed, organic estate located a mere three kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean in Stellenbosch. Choosing to embrace minimal intervention, the wines are all spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts and are bottled unfined and unfiltered, offering an unadulterated sense of person and place with each sip. ‘Nomadis’ is composed predominantly of cinsault, with a touch of pinotage to keep it grounded. Expect juicy bright red fruit balanced by pinotage’s signature tannin, spice, and grit.
