Approximately 37 kilometers south of Adelaide - the capital of South Australia - lies McLaren Vale, one of the earliest regions in South Australia to be planted to vines. Consistently considered one of the most esteemed wine growing regions in Australia, you can expect a Mediterranean climate, with the ocean moderating winter temperatures and sea breezes offering sweet relief on summer afternoons. Here you will find Springseed Wine Co. led by Joch Bosworth and his partner Louise Hemsley-Smith. Bosworth took over from his parents who established the vineyards back in the ‘70s and converted to organic viticulture in 1995. The vines are fully certified ‘A’ grade organic by Australian Certified Organic, a process that takes four years and involves yearly audits and random sampling of produce. A New World take on white Bordeaux, this blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon is crisp yet generous, with hints of wild herbs, green melon, and citrus mingling together on a palette that deftly balances zesty acidity with a savory, waxy texture.
