MORE ON THIS WINE

Founded in 2016 by Bálint Lőrinczy, the Steigler Winery is located in Sopron, just along the border of Austria and Hungary. Being a part of a family with deep winemaking roots in the region, it was natural for him to team up with Tamás Varga, another native of Sopron, to take the winery to the next level. Tamás’s strong commitment to tradition and organic viticulture was shaped by his experience working at wineries in Austria, California, and New Zealand, culminating in the estate becoming certified organic in 2018. The region shares a rich history of winemaking traditions and culture with Burgenland directly across the Austrian border and benefits greatly from the cooling influence of Lake Neusiedl. Siller is a traditional Hungarian wine that exists in the nebulous grey area between dark rosé and light red wine. Composed solely of zweigelt, this bottle is unapologetically fruit-forward, cheeky, and begging for a slight chill. Sour cherry, raspberry, and cranberry burst on the palate, with a subtle spice offering a savory counterbalance. Certified organic, vegan.
