Suigei Shuzo 'Drunken Whale' Tokubetsu Junmai Sake

Yodo Yamau was head of the Tosa clan during the Bakumatsu period. A writer and avowed sake aficionado (to say the least!), he wrote many sake-themed poems under the self-appointed pen name “Suigei Shuzo,” which means “drunken lord of the ocean where the whales live.” Drunken Whale is brewed in Kochi, Japan, from rice polished to 55%. Dry and clean, it features delicate notes of flowers, unripe strawberry, rice, and herbs. A versatile match with a variety of foods, try this with sashimi, veggie tempura, or soy-ginger sauces.
