Though Hudson Valley, New York cidermaker Leif Sundström has been known to source heirloom apples from across the state, the fruit used to make this aged cuvée comes from one special orchard close to his heart: Montgomery Place, a historic family-owned estate in Red Hook that dates back to the 1700s. Composed of 60% Hewe’s Crab, 20% Golden Russet and 20% Newtown Pippin apples, the cider was aged on fine lees, spending six months in neutral oak then another six months in stainless steel. Dry and mouthfilling, elegant and complex, it offers a purity of fleshy fruit flavor textured by herbaceous flourishes and cut with a concentrated minerality.
