MORE ON THIS WINE

In 2004, Philip Oser purchased the historic Villa Tolnay estate nestled on the southern slopes of Csobánc, a dormant volcano known as one of the ‘witness hills’ of the Balaton region on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Formerly owned by the famous Hungarian actress Klari Tolnay, the glamour of oldworld cinema seems embedded within the volcanic terroir, as Philip’s wines offer quiet confidence, elegance and opulence divorced from pretense. Sauvignon blanc grapes were hand harvested in late August, destemmed, and quickly pressed before spontaneously fermenting in 80% stainless steel and 20% oak barrels. The wine was then aged for an additional 5 months on its lees, creating a sumptuous texture that enriches its depth on the palate. Ripe yellow fruit is well-balanced by sharp acidity, allowing for an unmistakable minerality to shimmer atop a creamy palate adorned by elderflower blossoms and grapefruit zest.
