Raúl Pérez Pereira is one of the most important names in contemporary Spanish winemaking. He has lent his light touch and low-intervention approach to the collaboratory project known as Viñedos del Jorco, based in the mountains west of Madrid since 2009. Raúl’s partners César Ruiz, Flequi Berruti, and Nacho Jimenez have found Cebreros to be an excellent area for growing fresh, elegant, mineral garnacha. This, their entry-level cuvée, comes from granite and slate soils. It aged for six months in used French oak barrels. A very easy-drinking, approachable garnacha, it also strikes us as an incredible value! Black cherry and plum come across very smoothly on the palate, with just a faint waft of eucalyptus, very friendly tannins, and a slightly savory finish that will complement any charcuterie or cheese plate that might come your way. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
