May 17, 2024 | Rhône if you want to

As we wait at summer's doorstep with life changes, adventures and fresh discoveries top of mind, we thought it'd be the perfect time to explore a region known for its abundance, substance and unending variety:

France's Rhône Valley

Stretching between Lyon and Avignon in southeast France, across more than 150 miles and 31 AOCs on either side of the north-to-south flowing Rhône River, the Rhône Valley has been producing wine for at least 2,000 years, and has become beloved widely for its rich diversity of terroirs (more than a dozen different types of soil!) and equally rich assortment of value bottlings and prestigious cuvees.

More quality-driven, the Northern Rhône focuses almost entirely on Syrah and its steep, granite-laden hillsides are home to some of the world’s most sought-after and appreciated red wine-producing appellations, like Hermitage, Côte Rôtie and Cornas. The larger plains of the Southern Rhône are sun-soaked and Mediterranean-like, dappled with a plethora of grapes and producing some 95 percent of the region’s juice.

Today (Friday, 5.17!) , we're sampling an array of delicious everyday offerings from around the valley: An easy-drinking, fruitful white, a plush and perfumed pink, and a gluggable syrah.
