A storybook marriage of flavors!
~ something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue ~
Spring might be the season most associated with weddings, but fall is catching up fast - especially in our picturesque part of the world.
Today's tasting theme is a delicious riff on the old Victorian wedding rhyme, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue..." (The original also included "... a sixpence in your shoe", but nowadays most folks omit that part, especially since the sixpence was decommissioned in 1980, making it hard to find and uncomfortable to walk around on!)
The saying and ritual is meant to bring good luck, and who wouldn't like a bit more of that, especially when it's this tasty?
But what does this have to do with wine, you wonder?
Well, we're glad you asked! Each wine we're sipping today represents one part of the rhyme: the sparkler from southwestern France is made using an OLD technique (méthode ancestrale), the Wild Arc Farm white is made from a relatively NEW grape, while the Portuguese orange wine BORROWS from both traditional/ancient and modern winemaking philosophies. Finally, the cuvée we're featuring of Day Wines' Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is titled "Deep BLUE"!
