Forward Bound to France
We had so much fun doing a deep dive into Portugal last week that we figured we'd keep up the momentum by exploring another country's range of offerings. This week, it's all about France! From cool-climate Chablis to the sun-kissed vines of Provence, and finally to the rather under-the-radar region of Bugey, we'll be considering the varying microclimates and grapes of one of the largest wine producing countries in the world. During our wine class on Sunday, Emily discussed how varying temperatures influence a wine's structure and impression on the palate. Cooler climates tend to produce crisper wines with marked acidity and brightness, whereas warmer temperatures allow for greater ripeness which translates directly to greater potential for alcohol and body. This week's lineup will emphasize the nuances of climate and terroir throughout France and what that means for you, our darling, dear, ̶d̶r̶i̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ ̶ reader.
See you at the pouring table!
The Lineup: Domaine Garnier et Fils Chablis AOC 2023; Domaine des Diables 'MiP' Rosé Côtes de Provence AOC 2024; La Ferme de Jeanne Gamay Bugey AOC 2022
