Italy In Three Parts

We could drink solely Italian wine for the rest of our lives without any fear of boredom or redundancy. Okay, perhaps that's a bit hyperbolic. However, when you consider the multitude of microclimates and indigenous grapes that abound in that little boot, it's not a hard life to imagine. Care for crisp, acid-driven wines with zest and verve? Head north! Wanting a bit more bass and shoulder pads? Just boogy south and the additional sunshine and Mediterranean climate will offer ripeness and greater potential for alcohol. This week, we're highlighting three wines from three vastly different regions within Italy. We'll start north, with Simon Brazzan's malvasia hailing from the hills of Friuli that will then lead us to the volcanic vineyards of Sicily to sample Frank Cornelissen's rosato. Finally, we'll hoof it back to the mainland to visit a historic hidden gem in Tuscany called Pozzesi e Figlie, where sangiovese sings. Sounds like a plan? We think so too.

(see you soon)

The Lineup: Simon di Brazzan Malvasia Venezia Giulia IGT 2022; Frank Cornelissen 'Susucaru' Rosato Terre Siciliane IGP 2024; Pozzesi e Figlie 'Rodano' Chianti Classico DOCG 2024

Read on to learn more about what we're sampling, then stop by on Friday from 4-7pm to try them yourself!
