Thirsty for Hungary
Happy Friday, folks! Did you happen to check the weather forecast for the weekend? Sunshine at long last! And we just brought in three new wines that are perfect accompaniments to the sun's warm rays. Oh, and they're all Hungarian. How fun!
We'll start off with a gorgeous sauvignon blanc from the volcanic hills of Lake Balaton that will have Sancerre lovers rejoicing. Following the 'star of Eger' to the northeastern corner of Hungary, we'll next indulge in a glass of egri csillag, a historical blend of Eger's white grape varietals. Finally, we'll finish off with some siller, another historic style of wine in Hungary that offers incredible versatility. Is it a dark rosé? A light, chillable red? It's sort of both and neither. Either way, it's certainly delicious.
The Lineup: Villa Tolnay Sauvignon Blanc Balaton PDO 2024; Gāl Tibor 'Egri Csillag' Eger 2025; Steigler 'Siller' Zweigelt Sopron 2024
Read on to learn more about what we're sampling, then stop by on Friday from 4-7pm to try them yourself!
